Bantham

This 14th century inn is steeped in tradition and is a short walk from the surfing beach of Bantham, which is just a 10 minute drive from Kingsbridge. With an excellent reputation for cuisine, bookings are essential throughout the year. Children and dogs are very welcome in all areas of the inn.

Beesands

Located right on the seafront of this tiny village, the Cricket Inn is known far outside the area for its home cooking, particularly the seafood dishes. Most of the fish is landed locally, some of it by the owner, Nigel. The crab sandwiches and salads and the scallops are justly renowned, while meat-eaters can tuck into succulent steaks.
The Cricket's traditional Sunday roast was listed in the Guardian's top 10 of UK Pub Roasts. The pub was described as a "rarity in modern pub land: it doesn't try too hard, and it's all the better for it. Eschewing showy cooking that could all too easily fall flat, the kitchen instead sticks to doing the simple things well."
B&B is available in three double rooms and one family room.

Chillington

It may not look much from the outside - or from the inside for that matter - but this freehouse has a good local following and serves a half decent pint of ale. Bar lunches and evening meals are served daily including the house speciality, home-cooked steak and kidney pudding.

East Prawle

Well off the beaten track, The Pigs Nose is a real gem of a pub with a lively social scene thanks to the landlord's contacts with the music industry. This ensures a regular supply of excellent bands and solo musicians - including The Animals, Wishbone Ash and the Yardbirds - who come to perform either in the pub or in the hall next door.
Inside the pub an eclectic mix of curios and bric-a-brac help create a bohemian atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. Real ale is served straight from the barrel and Carlo, the Italian chef, provides a varied menu of good home-made food at a reasonable prices.
The Pigs Nose is Devon's most southerly pub and a perfect base from which to explore the spectacular coastal or inland footpaths.
In Winter the pub is closed Sunday evenings and all day Monday.

In winter the log fire provides a warm welcome, meanwhile in Summer the views from the beer garden over the valley to the sea are hard to beat. The pub is open every day throughout the year and food is served between 12pm-2pm and 6pm-9pm There are two rooms available to let, both ensuite.

A fantastic country pub with a large beer garden. The Church House Inn serves a good selection of home-cooked food, wines and beer. The imaginative menu goes beyond the usual pub grub but remains reasonably priced. Wednesday night is Jazz Night with weekly performances from locals Ed and Reg and their Gazunder Jazz Band. Great fun! The pub holds regular quiz nights and Summer BBQs.
Open every day for drinks from 11.00. Lunch is served between 12 noon till 2.00pm and dinner between 6.00pm till 9.00pm.

Tucked out of the way behind the church, the Tradesman's Arms is a part-thatched pub and restaurant with a delightful beer garden across the road. It serves a good selection of real ales and ciders - some very local to Stokenham. The menu includes home-made specials using fresh fish and meats plus a 'Curry of the day'.

The South West Coast Path runs right past the Kings Arms and visitors to the pub can enjoy stunning views of Start Bay from the patio, garden and dining room. The motto in the kitchen is "keep it fresh, keep it simple" and its an approach that has won it many accolades.
The Kings Arms features in many of the top restaurant and Gastropub guides including the Egon Ronay guide which declared: 'This is wonderful cooking…. accurate, assured, done with love and reverence'
The menu is full of locally sourced produce and changes with the seasons. Seafood is a speciality here and much effort has gone in to creating a varied wine list to compliment the food.

Housed in a former school dating back to 1839, the Laughing Monk changed hands in 2008 and the new owners are looking to build on the restaurant's impressive reputation for fine dining.
The restaurant has scooped many top awards under the previous owners, including 'South Hams Restaurant of the Year'. It is also listed in the prestigious Good Food Guide. The new owners say they will offer quality English and French-style cuisine using locally sourced produce where possible. Located close to the village church, the child-friendly Laughing Monk offers a spacious 60-seat ground floor restaurant and parking to the front. Open: Tuesday to Saturday and the first 2 Sundays of every month. Lunch from 12 - 2 and Dinner from 6.30 - 9.30

Thurlestone

This 16th Century Inn is owned by the Grose family who also own the 4* Thurlestone Hotel directly behind it. The pub offers a good selection of well kept ales and freshly prepared meals and is popular with locals and visitors alike. A great place for a drink after a day at the beach or a bracing walk across the cliffs. The pub is just a ten minute walk from the coast path.
