A fun-packed week for sailors and landlubbers alike

Salcombe Yawl racing is the highlight of the week

Salcombe Yawl racing is the highlight of the week

3rd February 2008

Salcombe Town Regatta provides a week full of high jinks and only semi-serious sport, both on an off the water.

A packed programme of activities for sailing enthusiasts include dinghy, rowing and yawl, while there is plenty to do ashore to keep the whole family amused.

Activities include a balloon race, duck race, treasure hunts, children's sports and disco, greasy pole, crab catching, sandcastle competition, mud race, and a fancy dress parade.

The traditional fireworks display always attracts large crowds to the town, while the traditional tug o' war between Salcombe Police and members of the Salcombe Yacht Association is usually a crowd-puller too.

This year's Salcombe Town Regatta takes place from August 4-8. For more information, visit www.salcombeinformation.co.uk.
