The Old Bag Company, based in Kingsbridge, has performed impressively at this year's Gift of the Year awards.

The firm's unusual Charlotte Old Bag finished second in the fashion accessories category.

It competed with four other products for the prestigious accolade.

Company founder Sally Hurst told thisissouthdevon.co.uk: "I am absolutely over the moon to have reached the final of the Gift of the Year Awards.

"Since I started the business in 2004, I have been delighted with the positive response I've had from retailers and customers who have bought my bags and it's great to have got this far in such a highly competitive competition."

The winners were announced at an awards dinner at London's luxurious Grosvenor House Hotel on June 19.

The Gift of the Year awards are organised by the UK's Giftware Association.
