The Young Guns competed in the inaugural Ivybridge sevens tournament on Saturday and walked away as winners with the trophy and £500 prize money that went with it.
The team made up of mainly Kingsbridge RFC players, but also a couple from further afield, took part in their second tournament of the season following on from their victory in the Salcombe sevens at Easter.
In the group stages, the Young Guns beat Tiverton in their opening game by a few points.
After this close game, the Young Guns played some better sevens against a Navy side, where good defence forced errors which were quickly converted into points.
In a slightly easier match, Young Guns played an "emerging" Ivybridge side that was a long time emerging and the Young Guns enjoyed a comprehensive victory.
In the final game of the group stages, the Young Guns faced a lot harder challenge against Ivybridge 1sts in which they came back from 0-17 behind to win 19-17.
In the semi final, Young Guns played the Smurfs, in which good pressure from kick offs and some hard hitting tackles lead them to win 52-7.
In the final, Young Guns were up against Paignton, in which they didn't play their best sevens of the day but still came out winners 24-20.
