Red Earth Deli owner James Marshall hosted a visit from Totnes MP Anthony Steen to thank him for his help in solving an EDF Energy headache.

Unhappy with his EDF contract, Mr Marshall wanted to change providers. Under his contract, Mr Marshall was required to provide 28 days notice of termination before the end of his existing two year contract.

However, due to the late postal arrival of the letter notifying Mr Marshall of this 28-day period, he was unable to lodge his request to cancel triggering the automatic renewal of the existing contract for a further two years.

In desperation Mr Marshall contacted Mr Steen who took the matter up with the EDF Chief Executive and successfully cancelled Mr Marshall's contract on his behalf, saving Red Earth Deli from another two years of EDF misery!

Mr Steen said: "I'm not St George and there an awful lot of dragons out there, but on this occasion I managed to slay one."

Red Earth Deli, based in Duke Street, Kingsbridge, sells a large selection of cheese, charcuterie, Red Earth Kitchen gourmet meals, homemade dips & pates, olives & antipasti along with other fine quality artisan products.

Red Earth's wide range of ready meals are available at its deli and other food stores across Devon.

The company also provides a home delivery service.
