Terry Moore has scooped this year's prestigious Kingsbridge Citizen of the Year award.

The award, which is sponsored by the town council, recognises the outstanding work of people in the local community. It was first introduced in 2004.

Moore is involved in numerous activities throughout the community which benefit both young and old alike.

He is a key member of the Kingsbridge Fair Committee and the Kingsbridge branch of the Royal British Legion.

However, it is his fund raising efforts for the Devon Air Ambulance which makes Moore stand out from the crowd.

In 2006, he helped to raise over £13,000 for the charity at a golf day at Bigbury Golf Club.

Moore, accompanied by his wife Pat, received his award and prize, a framed picture of hot air balloons floating over the estuary during Kingsbridge Fair Week, at the town council's annual civic dinner on March 13.

Previous winners of the coveted award are Jean Stephenson (2004), Peter Trembath (2005) and David "Crunchy Carrot" Gritton (2006).
