Aston Martin has been crowned the coolest brand in the UK, in a survey of more than 2,000 consumers.

The brand benefits from its association with the James Bond films, according to brand research firm Superbrands, who conducted the survey.

Aston Martin, which is based in Warwickshire, has now topped the poll for the last two years.

The firm's current models include the V8 Vantage N400, DB9 LM Coupe and DBS.

"The success of Casino Royale - and the rekindled love affair between the British public and Bond as a result - shows there is a deeply ingrained association with the man and the car in the minds of Britons," Superbrands said in a press release.

Dr Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin chief executive, said: "To be voted the UK's Coolest Brand for the second year running proves that the growth of our brand is consistent and ongoing.

"Our exciting, design-led programme of new models and unparalleled attention to detail, has made a major impact in the world of international culture."

Apple's iconic iPod came second, with video sharing website YouTube third, Danish hi-fi firm Bang and Olufsen fourth and internet search engine Google fifth.

Other brands in the top 20 included Nintendo, Virgin Atlantic, eBay, Rolex, Amazon and Ferrari.

"The top 20 is a reflection of our changing needs, wants and interests," said Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the Coolbrands Council.

"You could argue that its split into two pretty clearly-defined categories - on the one hand, things can become cool by virtue of their necessity or prevalence in your life, like Google or Amazon.

"On the other, the things you really want, but may know you'll never get - like a Rolex or a Ferrari - are considered just as cool."
