Green fingered tenants in the South Hams have come up smelling of roses in a garden competition organised by affordable housing firm Tor Homes.
Suggested at a meeting of the regular tenant panel meetings, the Tor Homes Garden Competition is now in its sixth year.
Zilpah Leahy, Tor Homes' housing and customer services manager, said: "We were absolutely delighted with the response we received and it was very difficult to choose the winners, the standards were so high.
"Running a competition is a really nice way of saying thank you to those tenants who look after their gardens year after year."
Judged by garden enthusiasts Vanetta Hosking and Carol Tomkins, the competition was sponsored by Greencrop of East Allington, one of the top producers in the area of environmentally-friendly products to improve the soil.
Daphne Twinberrow, of Stoke Fleming, was victorious in the best individual category, while Kenneth Raspin, of Kingsbridge, won the prize for best vegetable garden.
Wayne Lock and Margaret Goode, of Dartmouth, were victorious in the best container garden category.
Joy Ridley and Eddie Meakin, of Brixton, meanwhile, won the award for best communal garden.
A new category was added this year - the Platinum Planters and the winner was Lilian Male of South Brent.
