Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter has won game of the year at the first annual Bafta Video Games Awards.
The Ubisoft title also scooped the technical achievement prize at a ceremony held in London's Roundhouse on Thursday night.
Ghost Recon fought off competition from Guitar Hero, Hitman: Blood Money and Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy to land the game of the year prize.
Rob Cooper, managing director of Ubisoft UK, said, "We are delighted to have picked up these awards for Ghost Recon, and we are especially delighted that it has been recognised and rewarded as the best game.
"Since its launch, it has been one of the most acclaimed and best selling next generation games on the market and it’s wonderful to receive this endorsement from such a prestigious organisation as Bafta."
Ghost Recon, which was released on multiple platforms in March, had been nominated in eight categories.
Duncan Best, Bafta: "The spread of games reflects the diversity of the industry in its current state."
PlayStation 2 (PS2) game Shadow of the Colossus picked up three awards, including best action and best adventure.
PlayStation Portable (PSP) title LocoRoco won two prizes, for best character and best children's title.
Fight Night Round 3 was victorious in the sports category, while the prize for best gameplay went to Lego Star Wars II.
Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach won the gong for best multiplayer game and Guitar Hero earned the best in-game music prize.
Other winners included Rise And Fall: Civilizations At War for best strategy and The Movies, which landed the award for best simulation.
Duncan Best, Bafta's Video Games Awards officer, said: "The spread of games reflects the diversity of the industry in its current state.
"It's great that games as different as Ghost Recon and LocoRoco can be recognised for their individual achievements," he added.
TV and radio presenter Vernon Kay hosted the ceremony, while fellow TV presenters Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Iain Lee, Dave Berry and Angelica Bell handed out some of the awards.
The event will be shown on Channel 4 and E4 at a later date.
