The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been named the greatest videogame of all time.
The 10-year-old title for the Nintendo 64 console topped a poll of readers of Edge magazine and experts working in the gaming industry.
Ocarina of Time is also one of just five titles ever to receive a 10 out of 10 review rating from the popular British magazine.
Gran Turismo, Half-Life 2, Halo and Super Mario 64 are the only other games to have gained a maximum review score from Edge.
Resident Evil 4, meanwhile, finished in second spot, followed by Super Mario 64 in third, Half Life 2 in fourth and Super Mario World in fifth.
The full list of the top 100 games will be available in a 260-page special edition of the magazine which goes on sale on July 3.
Tony Mott, Edge: "Ocarina of Time is nearly 10 years old, but its position at the top slot in Edge's 100 Best Videogames shows that great game design does not age."
The magazine, priced at £10, will also include 100 new articles and personal testimonies from Edge readers.
"If you were new to video games and were going to go out and buy 100 games to make an instant collection, then these would be the games to buy," said Tony Mott, editor-in-chief of Edge.
"Ocarina of Time is nearly 10 years old, but its position at the top slot in Edge's 100 Best Videogames shows that great game design does not age.
"In visual terms, it obviously cannot compete with today's Xbox 360 and PS3 productions, but, as with many classics, its appeal is about so much more than its appearance."
Other games that made the coveted top 10 included Zelda: A Link to the Past, Halo: Combat Evolved and Final Fantasy XII.
Ocarina of Time is the fifth game in the popular Legend of Zelda series and the first of the series released on the Nintendo 64.
The 3D fantasy action game sold more than five million copies within six months of its release.
A total of 12 million units have been sold worldwide.
The game also scooped the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences 1999 Game of the Year accolade.
