Kingsbridge Community College students are celebrating a year of outstanding GCSE results.

Seventy-two per cent of students gained at least 5A* to C grades, while 60 per cent achieved 5A* to C grades including English and mathematics.

These results are considerably above national averages, and puts the college in the top quarter of schools in the country.

Twenty-three students gained at least 8 GCSE's at the top grades of A* and A, with top performing student Laura Bates gaining 9A*s and 3As.

The college says it was "particularly pleased" with 24 students who took French a year early in Year 10 and gained A* and A.

Roger Pope, the principal at Kingsbridge, said: "We are delighted with these results that show that once again students have achieved very well at all levels. Many congratulations to all the staff and students."
