A teacher from Kingsbridge Community College has been recognised for his dedication and commitment.
Ian Jamison won the award for Teacher of the Year in a secondary school at this year's South West Teaching Awards.
Jamison received a coveted Plato, the Teaching Awards symbol of excellence in education.
He will now go forward to the televised UK ceremony held in London in October.
Caroline Evans, Teaching Awards chief executive, said: "The ceremony is a great opportunity for excellence in schools across the South West to be celebrated.
"This year we've had a record number of nominations, and judges have told me what high quality finalists they have had to choose from.
"Congratulations to Ian who stood out in a very strong field."
