Paignton artist Julie Clark brings a new collection of paintings to Harbour House in Kingsbridge, in an exhibition which runs from March 11-16.
In a diverse exhibition of paintings in oils, watercolours and acrylics, her subjects include still life, landscape and fantasy.
Julie is becoming well known locally for her technique of combining drawing and embroidery on delicately painted silk panels, often focusing on the figures she studies in her regular life drawing practice at Harbour House.
In contrast, she has also produced a series of dramatic portraits in oils, inspired by her recent studies with Richard Teasdale, and oil paintings worked up in the studio from vigorous watercolour and pastel sketches made on walks along the blustery South West Coast Path.
Julie's interests lie across a broad range of arts, including life drawing, graphic design, creative embroidery, and oil painting inspired by the old masters.
"I pride myself that I have had no formal art training," says Julie. "I continue to learn by practice, with tutoring from local artists, and by my own trial and error. Art has always played a big part in my life."
Her work has recently been shown at a number of local National Trust properties, and at Birdwood House in Totnes.
Julie presents her exhibition of paintings and creative textiles at Harbour House in Kingsbridge from Tuesday 11 until Sunday 16 March. Opening times are 10am - 4pm, and admission is free.
